More than 4 decades of love could help undo DOMA

Edie Windsor never expected to be at the center of a political firestorm; but that is exactly where she is. She and her late wife of more than 40 years, Thea Spyer, are at the center of the Defense of Marriage Act and its constitutionality. Since it was signed into law in 1996 by President Bill Clinton, the validity of the bill has been called into question. Currently, there are more than a dozen lawsuits challenging the law, and may ultimately lead to it being overturned.
