Country legend Kitty Wells

Nashville music icon Kitty Wells passed away from complications of a stroke . Often considered a reluctant pioneer, Wells was the widow of fellow country legend, Johnnie Wright.  The singer of the 1952 hit tune “It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels” paved the way for women in the country music scene, and became the first solo woman to reach #1 on the music charts with the tune. The song firmly cemented her status as a country superstar of her time, and she remained so for the next 14 years.
