A fitting end to the “Fired Up for Kids” Charity Scandal?

Last month “Fired Up for Kids” was ordered to turn over its assets to newly formed non-profit Colorado Firefighter Calendar Inc., an unrelated company.  Kirsten Hambling, the sole signator for the FUFK organization, and her attorney’s admitted no wrongdoing in the matter. Still, the activities of Hambling through the FUFK organization prompted State Attorney General John Suthers to file a lawsuit back in December 2011.

What do you think? Is this a suitable end to an unfortunate scandal? Comments are welcome.

Pulse Denver talks with Colorado Senator Pat Steadman on Civil Unions

With gay marriage no longer an option, will civil unions offer protections same-sex couples want and need?

In the April issue of Pulse magazine, Colorado state Sen. Pat Steadman sat down to discuss his views on the topic of civil unions in the state of Colorado. Senate Bill 2 is a hot button issue in Colorado, and may be heading to voters soon. Sen. Steadman offers a candid, informed, and poignant view of a subject near and dear to his heart.

Voters took away the option of gay marriage with a vote to amend the state constitution in 2006. This is the next best option to insure some protections for same-sex couples here in Colorado. But will that be enough?
